Chatham Islands Airport Ltd

  • The Chatham Islands Airport Company Limited (CIAL) is a subsidiary company of the Chatham Islands Enterprise Trust (CIET). The CIET was established by the Government in 1991 following a review of the Chatham Islands economy. As part of that establishment the Government passed ownership of the Chatham Islands Airport (Inia William Tuuta Memorial Airport) to the CIET. The CIET set up the CIAL to operate the airport. The CIAL is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of three aviation professionals supported by Chatham Islands Management Limited, a wholly owned company of CIET. This plan sets out the CIAL’s Vision, Mission and its targets for Fiscal Year. The CIAL has identified two key activities in respect to its Mission – Leadership and Operations. It sees its Leadership role as being one that ensures the airport is developed for the future as a key infrastructural asset to facilitate the economic and social viability of the Islands. It sees its Operational role as being responsible for the compliant and safe operation of the airport.
