Bult in the early 1930s, the original Waitangi wharf replaced the long-used ‘jetty’ from the early 1890s, which was the lifeline for the people of the Chatham Islands, importing and exporting vital goods. The Original T-Head shape lasted until a complete facelift in 2017-18 when the Crown invested 56m into the Waitangi wharf to ensure a productive future for the Island’
